Question: Why do people who have never before built a successful
business believe that they can build two... or three... or four... or
more... successful businesses at the same time on
the Internet?
Answer: There are four reasons...
1.) Because they've been told they can.
2.) Because they've been told they should.
3.) Because they don't see the harm.
4.) Because they've never found something that they truly believe in.
Let's look at each of those four reasons and see if there's any real validity to
the idea of trying to build multiple programs at the same time.
1.) Because they've been told they can.
Perhaps someone (or some website) has told you that it's easy to build more
than one program at a time. Should you believe it?
Here's an experiment. Imagine for a moment that you're the owner of an online
program, that you're not too concerned about honesty, and that your goal
(your only goal) is to convince as many people as you possibly
can to click the "Join Now!" button on your website and send
you their money. (Remember, you're more than willing to lie if it helps you get
a few more people to pay you.)
Are you going to tell people that they'll have to read, study, work, and
overcome challenges before they can expect to achieve success?
Or are you going to tell people that it's easy to make tons of
money with your program... that all they need to do is click on the "Join
Now!" button and send in their money and your program
will "suck money from the Internet like a giant vacuum on
steroids" and their "PayPal account will be flooded with money
while they sleep"?
Do you see what's happening? The dishonest people (who are
only interested in getting other people's money) are lying...
and the honest people (who just want to be treated fairly and
get the help they need) are believing the lies!
Is it any surprise, then, that these same dishonest people are willing to tell
another lie... that it's possible to keep all those other programs
you belong to, and even join one more program (theirs, right?)
and you'll be able to succeed in all of them at the same
time?
Sure that's what they're going to tell you! If they told you
the truth... that success in business requires focus... you
wouldn't join their program and they wouldn't get paid!
So the next time someone tells you that you can build more than one program
at the same time, don't believe him. Instead, consider what you already know to
be true.
Have you ever heard of someone starting a business... any
business... and then going out the next week to start another one...
and then a third and a fourth two weeks later?
Of course not! People who succeed in business understand
how important it is that they focus all of their attention on their
business in order to be successful. That's just the way the world works. And you
already know that, don't you?
2.) Because they've been told they should.
Perhaps someone (or some website) has told you that it's important to build
more than one program at a time for security, in case one of
your programs fails. Should you believe it?
Let's go back to the experiment above. You're the program owner and you'll
say anything to get more money.
Would you look for ways to convince people to join your program even if
they've already joined a bunch of other programs? Would you even tell
people that simply by joining more programs they can have more security?
Of course you would! If you told people
the truth... that joining more programs is just a waste of time and money
and that trying to build more than one program at a time will
guarantee their failure in all of those programs... nobody
would join your program and you wouldn't get paid!
Here's why trying to build more than one program at a time
will always result in failure.
Your success on the Internet will be determined by how well you can
promote your website.
You have a limited amount of resources (time and/or money) that you can
devote to promoting your website.
If you try to promote two websites (one for each of two different programs),
each of those websites can only benefit from half of your available
resources... which is simply not enough... and that "split" will result in the failure
of both programs.
If you try to build three... or four... or more... programs at the same time,
the split becomes even worse and all of your programs will collapse even
faster.
It's a simple fact. The only way to succeed is to focus all of your
available resources on promoting only one business. Any other
approach is counter-productive and doomed from the outset.
3.) Because they don't see the harm.
Some people think that they can utilize tools such as autoresponders and
rotators to successfully promote more than one website, and thereby build
more than one program at the same time.
Unfortunately, that won't work either... and here's why.
No two online businesses or programs are exactly equal. That means if you
have two different programs, one will be "better" than the other.
Trying to build more than one program will pull resources from the better
program and give them to the weaker program. Why would anyone do that?
Not only that, but trying to build more than one program will prevent you
from becoming totally committed to your best program. Not being totally
committed will cause you to miss opportunities and make bad decisions.
It will also cause you to give up when the challenges come along. After all, you
have two other programs, so why bother, right? So instead of working through
the rough spots you just quit.
That's guaranteed failure, pure and simple.
BUT... if you have only one business... and
you're totally committed to that one business... you'll place
more value on that one business, you'll find opportunities where there were
none, your decisions will be determined by what's best for your business, and
when the inevitable challenges rise up to block your path you'll attack them like
a tiger and nothing will be able to stand between you and your
goals.
Focusing all of your energy on building just one business will make you a
stronger, more successful business owner. Trying to build more than one
program at a time will rob you of that strength and lead to failure.
4.) Because they've never found something that they truly believe
in.
You've seen dozens (maybe hundreds) of "Biz Opps" on the Internet. The flashy
websites with the pictures of happy people romping on the beach... stacks of
money and piles of gold... expensive cars parked in front of lavish mansions...
you know what I'm talking about.
Maybe you've even joined a few and lost money. That's OK. We all have. Those
websites are designed by people who are experts at playing on your dreams and
emotions. They've studied exactly what words to say... what colors to use...
where to place the "testimonials"... even things like what color is best for the
"Join" button.
Yes, those websites can be very powerful. They're designed to make money for
the owners and they do a very good job of it.
So you start reading and getting excited and before you know it you're getting
out your credit card... again.
And they gotcha... again.
But a few hours later (or maybe the next day) after the excitement wears off,
you begin to hear a little voice in your head. It's asking questions that you're not
comfortable with. It's telling you that you've been tricked into making an
emotional decision.
And deep down you know it's right.
And that's why you can't totally commit to that business. That's why you need
to join another program... so you'll have a "back up"... because your
subconscious is telling you that the program you joined is a scam.
And that's why you keep going from one program to another to another... and
that's why you'll never escape that cycle until you find something that
you truly believe in.
Why am I telling you this?
I'm telling you this because I want you to know that trying to build more than
one program at a time is NOT a good idea, that it will lead to failure, that you're
only encouraged to do that so other people can get your money, and that unless
you find something that you truly believe in, you can become chained to a
destructive spending cycle.
And I'm telling you this because every day OBA Business Owners, both old and
new, tell me how much
they appreciate being able to finally focus their full attention on promoting just
one legitimate business, how their business and their income has grown since
they stopped trying to build more than one program, and how OBA is what
they've been searching for... a solid business that they truly believe in.
So my advice to you is this...
Find a business that you truly believe in... it doesn't have to be OBA, just a solid,
legitimate business that you truly believe in... and focus all of your
attention and all of your available resources on building that one
business.
And if your choice is OBA, I think we'll both be happy.
